Teaching judgment,
not just protocols.

Advanced laser training built around clinical reasoning, real endpoints, and the decision-making that doesn't come from a manual. On-site and virtual programs for practitioners who want to go deeper.

Teaching Philosophy

Mentality over protocols.
Endpoints over settings.

"Most training programs hand you a protocol sheet and call it education. We build the clinical intuition that lets you write your own."
Macro
Big picture first Consultation, pre-care, treatment, post-care, and follow-up are one continuous system — not isolated steps. We train the whole loop.
Reason
Science over recipes Understanding light-tissue interaction, chromophore targeting, and thermal dynamics means you can adapt to any device, any skin type, any condition.
Loop
Plan → Execute → Follow up → Recalibrate Every treatment is a hypothesis. We train practitioners to document, observe, and improve — not just perform.
Human
Professionalism & presence Expectation management, psychology, and compassionate communication are clinical skills. We don't separate them from technique.
The Framework

DALASS.
How aggressive should you go?

Traditional laser training teaches Fitzpatrick skin typing as the primary safety variable. That is not enough. Lasers interact with three chromophores: melanin, hemoglobin, and water. Skin type addresses only one of them.

DALASS — Dr. Andy's Laser Aggressiveness Scoring System — adds two variables that standard training ignores: skin health (erythema level, a proxy for vascular reactivity) and skin thickness (a proxy for dermal resilience and water content). Together, these three variables produce a composite score that answers the question every operator should ask before every treatment: how aggressive can I safely go to achieve a real clinical result?

The scoring system is device-agnostic. It applies across platforms and wavelengths. It is not a protocol sheet — it is a decision-making framework that builds the clinical intuition to treat stubborn dermal lesions confidently, without compromising safety.

"The most common mistake in laser practice is under-treating because of fear. DALASS gives you a structured reason to be more aggressive when the skin can handle it, and a clear reason to hold back when it cannot."

Dr. Andy Huang
Andy Huang, MD, IMG
Founder · Skin Trek Training & Consulting

Dr. Andy Huang is a cosmetic physician with 16+ years of clinical experience spanning two countries. He spent a decade as a master injector in Taiwan before relocating to Ontario, Canada, where he has practiced for the past six years. He developed DALASS — a clinical scoring framework that goes beyond Fitzpatrick skin typing to systematize treatment aggressiveness decisions based on skin type, skin health, and skin thickness.

His training is independent, evidence-based, and built around clinical outcomes. He has trained clinics across North America working across Cynosure Lutronic, Candela, and Merz platforms. No vendor scripts. No protocol sheets handed out and called education.

Original Clinical Framework Creator of DALASS (Dr. Andy's Laser Aggressiveness Scoring System) — a structured approach to treatment planning based on skin type, erythema, and dermal thickness.
Candela Key Opinion Leader Recognised by Candela as a KOL — featured educator across Cynosure Lutronic, Candela, and Merz platforms with hands-on training delivered across North America.
Active Clinician Still in practice at Skin Trek, Richmond Hill — training is informed by current, daily clinical experience, not theory.
16+ Years in Aesthetic Medicine 10 years as a master injector in Taiwan, 6 years in Ontario. Deep specialization in biostimulators, neurotoxins, and laser medicine across diverse skin types and chromophore profiles.
